Hi David, in the MM sheet of Berberis vulgaris it is mentioned to use the root / root bark, leaves, berries. I remember leaves and berries are less efficient as a choleretic. Is that correct? And please let me know if the branches might be used in any way as a choleretic, as they are very yellow inside (and do look exactly like the root cuttings which are sold e.g. at mountain rose herbs). I would like to find a way to use my Berberis plant without killing it. Thank you. Kirsten

David said: Primarily the root is used, the leaves are only used with the root Robinho it bacterial resistance. The berries have totally different uses, neither is choleretic. The branches can be used like the root, but it weaker.
