Dear David, I have been studying the herb Nardostachys jatamansi (Jatamansi). It seems to me it could hold good benefit for certain people with neurodegenerative diseases. I have in particular on client that would fit the overall "profile" of this herb so well. Thus I would be very interested on your comments about this herb - I am aware it is endangered and if used has to be sourced carefully. Many thanks, Betina

PS: Is this somehow related (in botany or by use) to Aralia racemosa (American Spikenard), as I read that the EO of Jatamansi is also known as Spikenard?

Jatamansi is really interesting and the real limitation is it is an endangered species. There is very little organically cultivated Jatamansi, so be very careful of what you buy.

Deaar David, thank you very much. I think you did not see my own reply to the post, so may I post again: Is Jatamansi somehow related (in botany or by use) to Aralia racemosa (American Spikenard), as I read that the EO of Jatamansi is also known as Spikenard? Thanks a lot, Betina

No, no relationship, that is the problem with common names, multiple herbs can share the same name with no botanical relationship or chemical/activity similarity
