Curious to know your thoughts on how the quality of the sources on the market has changed in the last decdade+ and if you have any insights for sourcing along with your preferred form of delivery.

The number of herbs available has declined, fewer obscure North American plants are available ( Fringe tree for example), while there is greater availability of Ayurvedic herbs. Quality of organic herbs has improved, quality of Chinese herbs has declined. It is a very mixed bag, some improvements and some decreases in quality. Prices have skyrocketed. Sourcing means lot of due diligence, work with trusted growers, wildcrafters (many fewer wildcrafters these days), and suppliers. You need to do your own testing you cannot trust C of A’s. I am not sure what you mean by form of delivery ?

I was meaning specifically with respect to Rhaponticum for use with patients/clients if you found capsules, tea or tincture were preferable. I have had a few situations where I would have liked to use it but didn't really have a trusted source except as part of capsules with a whole lot of other adaptogens thrown together, in a less than nuanced way. When I have looked, I have found a few places that sell the isolated herb but concerns about quality have made me hesitate for most of those.

I mostly use the tincture, which I made myself from roots brought back from Russia by one of my students. I am almost out of it and do not know of any good sources to replace it. There is a company growing it in Western Canada, they sent me samples but the USDA impounded them and I never received them.

Sorry to hear that. Best of luck in future searches for a good source and I appreciate all the information you've shared.
