David, Can you give me a list of herbs to consider for a deficiency type insomnia (depressed and depleted) with racing mind (anxiety)? Mixed General Anxiety Disorder/Depressive Disorder, but also has a bit of a type A personality. Patient has a hard time getting to sleep, and then never really feels like her "mind shuts off" during the night so she can sleep deeply. She says she just feels like she lays in bed with her eyes closed. She's thin, pale, cold, and exhausted all of the time. No heat signs. I'm having a hard time putting something together with such a mixed bag of symptoms. Depleted, anxious, depressed, with some Type A personality traits. I think she's just too depleted to be able to operate in this realm! She is 23. I don't want to give her any herbal recommendations which may aggravate either the anxiety or the depression. Jami

It is always difficult to make specific suggestions with so much information and not enough information at the same time, I would consider Passionflower, Lemon Balm, possibly some Bacopa, Mimosa flowers, FRESH OAT (definitely), Jiaogulan or Cordyceps.
