Hello! I had a question about making processed Rehmannia tincture. The Materia Medica says 1:5 30% alcohol, decoct 1-2 hours and cool before adding the alcohol. Is the decoction strained off and disposed of or is it included as the water ratio to dilute the alcohol to 30%? I know some of these TCM herbs have some processes they go through to render them less toxic and I cant recall if this is one of them. Thanks!

No, you are using the decoction, this is not for reducing toxicity, it is to extract the maximum activity of the herbs.
