Hey Rich, hope this is finding you well. Quick question, on the tincture making worksheet, under "total menstruum in ml" it says to multiply the herb weight by 1.0418 and then by the second ratio number (2 if it's a 1:2, 5 if 1:5 etc.). I guess I"m just curious what the purpose of the 1.0418 number is and where that number comes from? I suppose when I originally learned pharmacy we'd just take the grams of herb and multiply it by that second number, so if i have 1000 grams of herb and want a 1:5 i'd use 5000 ml of menstruum. With this method that brings ml's menstruum to 5209. Is that extra to consider the hydration of dried plants? Just curious. Thanks! Sajah

Rich got the number from me, it is what we use to convert grams to ml, not sure how we came up with that exact number, with water it is pretty much1:1, but it depends on temperature, altitude, humidity....
