David said: You sure about that diagnosis? Tailor’s Bursitis is Ischial Bursitis which occurs in the ischial bursa (nowhere near the foot). Regardless, bursitis is an inflammation of bursal sacs usually caused by repetitive motion, physical trauma, or overuse. The usual treatment is rest, anti-inflammatories and analgesics. Is the person a runner? They need to take at least several months off from running. Alternating hot and cold hydrotherapy is very effective (you can add herbs to the hot soak, such as ginger, yarrow, Dan Shen, etc). Orally anti-inflammatories and analgesics (many herbs do both things) are useful, but as I always what does the pain feel like ? Hot ? sharp ? tearing ?, dull ? throbbing ? burning ? etc. This would help determine which anti-inflammatories/analgesics would be most appropriate for this person. In addition topical use of dit dot jows, trauma oil (Compound Arnica oil), acupuncture and electro-stim can also enhance healing as well as glucosamine/MSM.
