I know that some herbs lose their properties when dried and it is recommended, to ae least for cooking, to freeze them in water to be used later. Herbs like basil and parsley though freeze dry well and retain their flavor better than if they were air dried. So, it makes me wonder if the flavor is retained would the medical properties also be retained? yes
Some herbs like Skullcap lose most of their activity when dried, but freeze drying maintains it’s activity. So freeze drying can be very useful but most herbs do not need it. So depending on the cost of the freeze drier, it may or may not be worthwhile to invest in somewhat expensive equipment. Also freeze dried herbs need to be kept absolutely dry, as they are hygroscopic and will absorb moisture form the air and it ruins the herbs
