Hello David, Do you have any guidance as far as recommended herbs to help someone suffering from EOE (Eosinophilic esophagitis)? They currently take a PPI medication, though they do not have acid reflux. Thank you kindly, Valerie

David said: EOE is an immune-mediated disease and PPI’s although commonly prescribed usually do not work (and when they do it is only symptomatic relief). With any immune-mediated disease I use immune amphoterics (in this case something like Licorice, Astragalus) and immunoregulatory herbs (Turmeric, Gotu Kola, Fennel seed), and for EOE I would also use mucous membrane anti-inflammatories such as Aloe, Calendula, Marshmallow or Plantain. Also look at reducing exposure to any dietary (dairy, gluten, nuts, soy, etc) or environmental allergens (pollen, animal dander, dust mites, etc).
