I would really like to understand how you determined the 1.0418 number, we should use in our tincture making. I asked Rich and all he said was that it's a number to account for the conversion of g into mL. I'm assuming it has something to do with how much of the menstruum the dried herb absorbs, but if this is the case, is it just an approximation?
Also I'm curious as to why we don't measure our ratio of herb to menstruum by weight, since the density of ethanol is .79 g/ml (at 20 degrees C).
