Hi David, I know it might be a little early in the program to bring this kind of thing up, but I’ve been in clinical practice for about five years since completing my previous herbal training. I’ve come up against a client dynamic that I’d really appreciate your perspective on. I have a client who has been reacting to the protocol by shifting things every couple of weeks. They’re layering in herbs from past practitioners, changing direction without checking in, and attributing every new symptom to whatever they were taking most recently. It’s been difficult to evaluate whether the protocol is working because there hasn’t been enough consistency or follow-through. My question is: what do you do when someone reacts this way? How do you personally navigate cases where there’s low trust, high reactivity, and a tendency to override the process before it has a chance to work? I’m at a point where I’m considering setting a clear boundary or potentially stepping away, but I’d really value your insight on how you might approach this. I've never turned away a client before, and It's not something I take lightly at all. But maybe she needs a referral elsewhere? Thank you so much for your time and support. Warmly, Tyler

DAvid said: This sounds like what I used to call "Doctor Hoppers", they go from one practitioner to another, always expecting immediate results and never giving any protocol a real chance of working. Whether it is a lack of trust, unrealistic expectations, mental illness, ADHD, or other reasons, you are wasting your time and energy unless they give your protocol time to work. I let patients know my expectations before I see them, if they are willing to accept my conditions, we can work together, if they think they know better, or like to go to Dr Google and then want to argue about what they found or are unwilling to be mostly compliant, I will not continue to work with them. Your time and experience are precious and there is to much to do to waste on people who are not willing to meet you halfway in their healing journey.
