I understand that PEs are out of scope -- eliquis is there for preventing clots; however, the PEs sat in this patient's lungs for 10 months. When there is a case of chronic PEs, there is a high risk of interstitial fibrosis due to chronic inflammation. How can herbs be used to support the lungs? herbal antiinflammatories/ antioxidants etc. We are trying to get this patient off of oxygen -- if her lungs get fibrotic, she will need oxygen for the remainder of her life. Without supplemental oxygen her oxygen sat is 90%. Again, tongue w/ yellow, thick coat -- heat signs. Crack in st/spleen area. Constitutionally the patient is vata -- thin, nervous, anxious, high strung. I know we have gone over many herbs which are liver or renoprotective? what herbs would be best lung tonics? Prince Seng perhaps?

Prince Seng (i.e the Ginseng of the lungs), is probably the best lung trophorestorative. Other herbs that nourish the lungs include White Asian Ginseng, Ophiopogon/Mai Men Dong, Astragalus, Cordyceps, Yu Zhu/Chinese Solomon’s Seal, Chinese Asparagus/Tian Men Dong, Licorice, as well as carotenoids/Vitamin A.
