David,
This metaanalysis -- basically showed the best results w/ the study that used 600 mg IV x 3 wks. Then I believe there were only two other studies that met their incluson criteria.
There did not appear to be in any increased benefit over 600 mg per day. There was also a very strong placebo effect (one could also argue an even stronger placebo effect by giving a person and IV! every day).
The review also points out some interesting conflicts of interest -- most of studies done by same German group which is paid by the supp company. a company advisor also
sat on the study advisory board.
Where does your recommendation stand w/ ALA, and what dose?
Also, I can't remember if you had a few herbs that you tended to put into formulas for diabetic peripheral neuropathy. I know everyone is different.
