Dear David, You have talked multiple times about your herbal book collection some of which are quite old. My brother in law has gifted me many old horse books from the 1800's and early 1900's. My problem is that they are so moldy I can barely stand opening them to examine them. I have tried leaving them open outdoors on a sunny day, and putting them in a closed plastic bin with an air freshener (Nature's air sponge), which has helped a little. I have read recommendations to microwave books to get rid of the mold, or to get an ozone generator and put them in a small space and treat them with ozone. Seems drastic. I've tried contacting local library archivists but never received an answer. Have you had a mold problem with your books, and if so what have you done? Thank you!

Is there obvious mold or a smell of mildew ? If there obvious mold, I am not sure if anything would help. If it is a mildew odor, I have put books in a sealed plastic bag with odor absorbing kitty litter, baking soda may also work , for several months and it helped.
