Hi David,
I am working on the asthma chapter of my research paper (most common pediatric illnesses...) and using various resources. Mary Bove's book on this topic gives the following recommendation
Acute flare ups:
lobelia 3 parts , cramp bark 3 parts, ephedra 3 parts (this herb is not available in the US anymore I think?) , licorice 3 parts, cayenne 1/2 part
Based on how we are learning, this doesn't consider the energetics of the child (is there a lot of mucus, is it hot or cold etc.)
What are your thoughts?
Also..
She suggests inhalation of essential oils such as eucalyptus, lavender (this must be good for calming the child down in an acute attack), peppermint, yarrow
Antispasmodic rub on chest made of lobelia oil, cramp bark tincture, cayenne oil and lavender + thyme EO
