On the Mat Med sheet the contraindications are "deficient or damp spleen with diarrhea." Does that mean: All deficient spleen conditions or only if there is also diarrhea All damp spleen conditions or only if there is also diarrhea In other words, does diarrhea have to be present for this herb to be contraindicated. This same wording has been on a few other sheets so this will clear up other questions as well. Thanks.

It is CI with any diarrhea, in most cases of damp spleen, diarrhea is a prominent symptom, less so with deficient spleen qi. So it is pretty much CI for damp spleen but in some circumstances might be ok with deficient spleen qi.
