Is there an herb with similar components to Ashwaganda (being used for mild hypothyroidism), but without the rich iron content?
I know someone that has hemochromatosis who is also mildly hyperthyroid, and Ashwaganda was recommended by their health care practitioner to help with their mild hypothyroidism. I am not wanting to interfere with the care this person is getting, but I am curious for my own education about this, as it seems to me that it would be contraindicated for someone with this serious condition (hemochromatosis) due to its rich iron content.
Of course I realize that the answer to this is all theoretical without having a full case history, so I not looking for a replacement herb for this specific person, but just wondering if there is another herb that might have similar actions and energetics that might be a wiser choice in a formula for a person with hemochromatosis, IF Ashwaganda was a good fit for the person in all other ways?
