Hi Andrew, I was curious about gallbladder removal from a TCM perspective. Does removing it deplete Jing or any other areas of the body once it is out? Is there a way to replenish the missing organ once removed? Also, would removing the gallbladder impair/impact judgement and decisions even further since it governs it? Thank you!

Andrew said: Just because a gallbladder was removed does not mean there is anything to do. The meridian associated with the organ is intact. TCM will just ask you to look at the symptoms of the person, do a pattern differentiation, and treat accordingly. So, in the case of a cholecystectomy (GB removal), does the person have any digestive difficulty? If no, do nothing. If yes, treat the pattern of how it manifests. For example: gas/bloating could be spleen deficiency, loose stool could be spleen qi or yang deficiency, abdominal cramping with gas/bloating could be liver qi stagnation etc. Removing a physical organ does not mean the emotional, spirit, or energetic level of that element will be injured. Those aspects of the organ usually pertain to the meridians and other vessels.
