Hi David I am trying to nail down a well-working seasonal allergy protocol for myself. I have heard on your talks form Medicines from The Earth that you have great success with many patients as long as they start the protocol before the season starts. Here in North Carolina birch and oak pollen sky-rockets between March-June each year. In 2020 I tried using an immune amphoteric formula (mostly various combinations of astragalus, holy basil, reishi, ashwagandha), along with anti-inflammatory support (played around with both turmeric and curcumin), and mast cell stabilizers like nettle leaf (freeze-dried), frozen blueberries as food, quercetin (this might be more of an immuno-regulatory nutrient than a mast cell stabilizer, not sure). Between May-June I still had breakthrough symptoms and felt quite miserable about 30% of the days. Any suggestions on how I could up my game in preparation for 2021? Thanks in advance.

Starting 6-8 weeks before allergy season,. I use immune amphoterics (Reishi, Cordyceps, Astragalus, Cat’s Claw, Licorice, Schisandra) , immunoregulatory herbs (Gotu Kola, Huang Qin, Boswellia, unprocessed Rehmannia, Indian Madder, Turmeric, Lian Qiao, Chai Hu, Black Seed), along with mast cell stabilizers (Eyebright tincture, Amla, Blueberry solid extract, Hibiscus, Pomegranate juice, Triphala) and decongestant/antihistamines (Kudzu, Yerba Manza, Bayberry bark, Collinsonia, Magnolia flower/Xin Hua, Sage). I do not use all of these herbs, I chose the ones from each category that best fit the person I am treating. I may also give them Fish Oil, Vitamin A and D, Quercitin, and other anti-inflammatory supplements, plus recommend an anti-inflammatory diet. For most of my patients this keeps them relatively symptom-free, although some still have some breakthrough days and for others it significantly decreases allergy symptoms, but does not totally alleviate them.
